I can’t get enough of tacos. I’ll take them any way that I can, and my family feels the same way. Whether it’s this easy crock pot taco soup, crunchy taco salad with homemade dressing or cheesy taco dip with a bag of chips, some type of taco-inspired dinner graces our table every single week. That’s why I marked this taco pie with pie crust in my old cookbook from the First Baptist Church in our hometown.
Deep Dish Taco Pie Recipe
The official name is taco pie, but I renamed it to Deep Dish Taco Pie because it is loaded with all kinds of taco ingredients. With that being said, a regular pie crust is not big enough to hold it all; be sure to get the deep dish variety.
I love recipes that you can customize to fit your – or your family’s – taste, and this recipe lends itself to that for sure. One way you can do this with this Mexican pie is by fixing the toppings that everyone enjoys – shredded lettuce, sour cream, diced tomatoes or even your favorite salsa – to top this dish once it’s out of the oven.
Like spicy food? Use a medium or hot taco sauce, add a couple of dashes of your favorite hot sauce or add some jalapeños or other peppers to the mix.
