What to Expect
This week at These Old Cookbooks, we are serving up delicious meals that Grandma would approve. All of these recipes have simple ingredients (see our grocery list at the bottom of this post) and are easy to follow.
We’ve got some time-saving strategies this week! Our main strategy is to grill chicken on the weekend for two different meals. Eat it once hot off the grill, and then cube up the extra and store in the refrigerator for a cold Chicken Bow Tie Pasta Salad recipe later in the week. Truth be told, you could prepare the chicken pasta salad completely on the weekend to eat later in the week. The flavor improves overnight. Just add a little extra Italian dressing if it looks dry.
You can also brown up extra ground beef on Tuesday so that you are ahead later in the week when you make Frisco Melt Hamburger Helper. That’s a big time saver!
There are also some substitutions you could make to save money. Buy some of your vegetables in bulk to save money since they are going to multiple recipes this week (onions, peppers and tomatoes). You can also buy Velveeta and shredded cheddar cheese in larger portions at cheaper costs to save money as well since they appear in a couple different recipes on the menu. Or buy a block of cheddar cheese and grate it yourself to save even more!
See the grocery list below (we didn’t include the ingredients from recipes NOT on our site). You most likely won’t need everything on that list. We are betting that you have many of these ingredients already in your refrigerator or pantry!
