French Onion Rice Casserole
Rice is such an economical side dish, and it’s nice to have many different rice recipes up our sleeves in addition to plain white rice.
This Stick of Butter Rice is one of those recipes. It’s super flavorful due to that stick of butter, mentioned a second ago, in addition to beef broth and a can of condensed French Onion Soup.
This recipe came from our good friend Jackie. When Barbara got married, she gifted her a cookbook where she wrote down her family’s favorite recipes. This baked French Onion Rice Casserole is one of the recipes from her cookbook.
Once she made this dish with the canned French onion soup and it was such a hit, Barbara decided to try these French Onion Joes. They are a great alternative to regular sloppy joe sandwiches.
French Onion Rice in Oven Recipe
Rice can be the perfect side dish to any main course, and sometimes you want to jazz up your basic recipe. This recipe does just that. It combines easy pantry staples such as instant dry rice, beef broth, French onion soup and butter to make a flavorful side dish.
What is even better? All you do for this French Onion Rice is mix together all the ingredients, and pop in the oven to bake. If you can manage to melt butter, then you can handle this recipe.
Here’s a little hint: melt butter or margarine in a saucepan over medium high heat on the stove top. It’s the fastest and cleanest way to do it. Melting in the microwave always ends up in a big mess on the top of the microwave.
