What to Expect
This week at These Old Cookbooks, we are serving up delicious meals that Grandma would approve. All of these recipes have simple ingredients (see our grocery list at the bottom of this post) and are easy to follow.
We’ve got some time-saving strategies this week! Our main strategy is to make a Spiral Ham on the weekend, and then use the leftovers all week long. The ham will be used in Leftover Ham and Noodle Casserole, Ham Salad Sandwich Spread, Make Ahead Ham and Cheese Quiche, and then the ham bone will be used in Instant Pot Ham and Beans.
We’ve also chosen recipes that have the same ingredients such as Ranch Seasoning Packets and Bacon which are used in multiple recipes. You’ll also want to buy an extra large bag of shredded cheddar cheese to use this week and extra eggs.
There are also some substitutions you could make to save money. Our Salad Sandwich Spread is typically made with Miracle Whip, but we recommend using mayonnaise to make it this week since you’ll be using it in our Ranch Cauliflower Salad too. You may want to add a little extra sugar with the regular mayonnaise to cut the saltiness of the ham. You could also use this same mayonnaise for 3 Ingredient Chicken Salad.
Feel free to use whatever you already have in the cabinet for recipes. For our Easy Taco Soup, you can use whichever types of canned beans you have instead of buying extra black beans and kidney beans.
See the grocery list below (we didn’t include the ingredients from recipes NOT on our site). You most likely won’t need everything on that list. We are betting that you have many of these ingredients already in your refrigerator or pantry!

Tuesday: Easy Crock Pot Taco Soup
