What to Expect
This week at These Old Cookbooks, we are serving up delicious meals that Grandma would approve!
The weather is changing with the coming of fall. Even though the days are still stifling hot (feels like summer), the early mornings and late evenings are cooler (feels like fall).
Summer is still around with fresh garden veggies that make great dishes, like Kentucky Southern Squash Casserole and Cheesy Frito Salad served up with garden tomatoes.
On the other hand, we are starting to crave heartier fall meals, like Pork Chop Potato Bake, Spare Ribs and Cheesy Smoked Sausage and Potatoes.
You’ll find a nice variety of recipes that check both these boxes in this week’s meal plan. It’s delicious with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Apples are also in season; so be sure to try our Grandma’s Easy Apple Crisp. Prep ahead over the weekend by browning up some ground beef seasoned with onions, salt and pepper to be used later on in the easiest Sloppy Joe recipe ever. You could also go ahead and fry up some bacon to use in Bacon Pea Salad and Crock Pot Green Beans. In our opinion, you can never be over-prepped for the week.

Serve along side Hash and Eggs from South Your Mouth.
Tuesday (Taco Tuesday): Cheesy Frito Salad
