What to Expect
This week at These Old Cookbooks, we are serving up delicious meals that Grandma would approve. All of these recipes have simple ingredients (see our grocery list at the bottom of this post) and are easy to follow.
We’ve got some time-saving strategies this week! You’ll find that we use our Crock Pot multiple times this week. It does all the hard work while you are having fun with your family or are at work. It also is nice during the summer months because it won’t heat up the house.
We have a super fast, super easy main course on Tuesday night with our Easy Sloppy Joes made with just ketchup, onions and ground beef. But better yet, make extra because you are going to use the leftover Friday night for Sloppy Joe Cups. Stuff the leftovers in canned biscuits topped with shredded cheese and you’ll have a whole new meal.
There are also some substitutions you could make to save money. Buy a large bag of shredded cheddar cheese (or block) and use it in both cabbage casserole and sloppy joe cups (instead of the Colby jack it calls for). Also, buy yourself a large bag or package of chicken tenders since you’ll need them for Potato Chip Crusted Chicken Tenders and Amaretto Chicken and Rice.
