Hot Dried Beef Dip Recipe

This dried beef dip recipe came from my cookbook by the ladies of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and these are my favorite types of cookbooks. All the church ladies submit their favorite recipes so you know they will be super delicious.

I made this warm, bubbly, salty dip for my son’s 3rd birthday party, and let me tell you, it was a hit.  The dried beef, dry minced onion and buttery pecans give the dip a yummy flavor that pairs nicely with crackers.  My brother-in-law says this could be a whole meal.  It’s safe to say that we are adding this hot chipped beef dip as a regular on our holiday menus.

Is chipped beef the same as dried beef?

Yes, chipped beef is also referred to as dried beef.

Notes About Chipped Beef Dip

  • Dried beef, also known as chipped beef, is a jar of beef that has been dried. It has a salty, unique flavor.
  • Be sure to let the cream cheese soften; if not, your mixture will have clumps.  It takes several minutes on a high speed to get cream cheese to a smooth texture.
  • You can lighten up this recipe by using low fat or fat free sour cream and skim milk.
  • If your pecans are not already salted, be sure to add salt with the melted butter, about 1/8 teaspoon.
  • To change things up, try adding chopped green peppers in at the same time as the dried beef.
  • One of our favorite ways to use dried beef is in Chipped Beef Gravy or Creamed Dried Beef Gravy.

I make a similar recipe but also add small can of chopped or sliced black olive. I have never used the nuts just because I don’t care for them. It’s an awesome recipe and delicious cold.

Olives instead of nuts…sounds good to us too!
