Weekly Meal Plan: Meals Grandma Would Serve Week 1

Here at These Old Cookbooks, we are whipping up weekly meal plans to help your busy week go more smoothly.  To do this, we are coming up with a meal plan for the whole week that will set you up for success and reduce the stress level in your house.

Weekly Meal Plan: What to Expect

Our meal plan consists of meals that Grandma would serve.  One thing we know is true is that these meals will be fast, easy and kid-friendly.  As a result, we also suggest making extra of certain items that can be reused into a new recipe later in the week. Thank you leftovers!

Also, we like to strategically plan recipes that share ingredients. In the end, it reduces food waste and saves money.

Something else that we do differently is to start our meal planning on Saturday.  The weekend is a big opportunity to make some meals ahead of time to help you get through your week.  We like to make meals that have some leftovers that can be eaten for your lunch.  Doing this will help you save some money by avoiding eating lunch out.

See the grocery list below. You most likely won’t need everything on that list. We are betting that you have many of these ingredients already in your refrigerator or pantry!

Weekly Meal Plan, Week 1

Saturday: Low Calorie Cabbage Soup (great leftovers for lunch all week)

This healthy Low Calorie Cabbage Soup is perfect after a weekend of indulgence because while it is full of vegetables it is also full of flavor.

Sunday: Grilled Pork Shoulder Steak, Campfire Potatoes

Grilled pork shoulder steaks will be a new go-to recipe for your summer grilling rotation. Simply let the steak marinate in a dry rub of garlic salt, paprika, brown sugar, and black pepper for 15 minutes, and grill. The result is a tender, pork steak full of flavor that the whole family will enjoy.

Monday: Crock Pot 20 Clove Garlic Chicken (use the leftovers on Thursday night for casserole). Serve chicken over rice. For a side, Spicy Roasted Zucchini.

Crock Pot 20 Clove Chicken is exactly what the title implies...chicken breasts cooked with 20 cloves of garlic and a handful of other ingredients.

Tuesday: Sheet Pan Fajitas, Serve with tortillas.

Sheet Pan Fajitas are a super quick and easy weeknight dinner option.

Wednesday: Skillet Smoked Sausage and Cabbage

This one pot wonder consists of a buttery blend of fried cabbage, smoked sausage, carrots, potatoes and onions. Skillet Smoked Sausage and Cabbage is a quick meal that your entire family will enjoy.

Thursday: Grandma’s Chicken and Rice Casserole (Use leftover chicken from Crock Pot 20 Clove Chicken for the casserole)

Friday: Crock Pot Cheesy Smoked Sausage and Potato Bake

Crock Pot Cheesy Smoked Sausage and Potato Bake is comfort food at its best with a creamy cheese sauce topping family-pleasing ingredients.
