No Bake Pumpkin Fluff Ingredients
My sister Meg (the other half of These Old Cookbooks) passed on an old cook book to me from her husband’s grandmother. It’s called Delight Wier’s Kitchen, and I find it rather darling. The recipes come from a farm wife, and since I’m also a farm wife, I find myself rather enjoying her dialogue.
One the first recipes I marked was this Pumpkin Salad recipe. It’s more of a no bake pumpkin pudding or a pumpkin fluff since it has a container of whipped topping. Here is a list of ingredients for this pumpkin dessert.
- Instant Vanilla Pudding
- Milk
- Canned Pumpkin
- Pumpkin Pie Spice
- Cool Whip
I’m always delighted that women of that generation called Cool Whip desserts salads. I think I’d like to live in that time if I could consider a recipe with pudding and Cool Whip to be a salad and not a dessert. Oh how nice it would to be blissfully unconcerned with fruits, veggies, diets, fiber, etc.
What is pumpkin fluff?
Pumpkin fluff is a simple dessert made of just a handful of ingredients. This includes a box of instant vanilla pudding mix that lends to the pudding consistency. A tub of whipped topping makes it a little fluffier than a pudding, hence the name pumpkin fluff.
How to serve pumpkin fluff?
Serve pumpkin fluff in one of three ways. First, eat it with a spoon as a pudding. Secondly, pour the pumpkin mixture into a graham cracker crust as a pie. Lastly, serve it as a pumpkin fluff dip with dippers such as gingerbread cookies, graham crackers, ginger snaps, vanilla wafers, apple slices or animal crackers.
