Traditional Rum Punch

When I think of a rum punch, I imagine a something fun and fruity. For this Bacardi Rum Punch recipe, the fruitiness comes from a combination of frozen limeade that has been thawed and grenadine.  If you aren’t familiar with grenadine, it is a pomegranate syrup used from making cocktails.  It’s usually in the same aisle as the liquors at the grocery store.

For this rum punch, the alcohol of choice is a white rum such as Bacardi. It adds little flavor; instead the frozen limeade and grenadine flavors filter through for a refreshing tropical vibe.

Beer Rum Limeade Recipe

Frozen Limeade concentrate from the freezer section at the grocery store is such a great shortcut ingredient for cocktail recipes. It gives a margarita vibe to almost any drink recipe including this beer rum limeade recipe.

One thing to note is that frozen limeade mix has pulp in it.  If you despise pulp, be sure to strain the limeade as you pour it into the pitcher. If you don’t mind it, then add the whole can to the mix. This makes one pitcher of rum limeade. Go ahead and buy two cans of limeade, and double the recipe. Just sayin!

How to Mix Bacardi and Beer

Mixing white rum and beer is quite easy. I’m not sure why I never thought of the idea until I found this particular recipe in an old cookbook called What’s Cooking, Teach?

I love white rum cocktails, and I love a refreshing, light beer, especially during the summer months.  Adding rum and beer to a cocktail recipe is genius.

Why do I add beer to rum punch?

Beer adds a nice little fizz when added to cocktails that have other alcohols as a base.  The added carbonation of a beer has a nice bubbly effect when added to any cocktail such as a traditional rum punch.

How to Make a Bacardi Rum Punch Recipe

1. In a pitcher, add thawed limeade concentrate, Bacardi white rum, beer and grenadine syrup.
2. Stir to combine.
3. Serve over ice.
4. Enjoy.

Notes About Bacardi and Beer Recipe

• I prefer Bacardi Superior White Rum but you can use whatever brand you prefer.
• The original author of this Michelob Rum Punch recipe recommends using Michelob high life, but you can use whatever beer you have on hand or prefer.  I tend to use Michelob Ultra.
• Let the frozen limeade concentrate thaw for a minimum one hour in the refrigerator to thaw.
• Frozen limeade concentrate has some pulp. I don’t mind it, but you can strain it out, if desired.
• Try making your own recipe by subbing in frozen orange juice concentrate or frozen lemonade concentrate.
• Add as little or as much grenadine to taste.
