Hamburger Gravy with Cream of Mushroom Soup is a staple of our childhood dinner table. Maybe your family called it SOS, but either way this recipe is just as good now as it was then.
With just a few simple ingredients, you can have an easy stove top meal on the table in a matter of minutes with this ground beef and corn gravy. Served over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles or even toast, this old-fashioned meal is always a favorite.
Hamburger Gravy with Cream of Mushroom Soup
Here we go again with a quick and simple dinner idea using ground beef. Now, my Mom has been making from scratch Hamburger Gravy for an eternity, and I love, love, love it.
But, I also like this version of hamburger gravy with cream of mushroom soup. It’s a shortcut meant for quick dinner planning.
I also like the addition of vegetables in my hamburger gravy. The original recipe in my West Virginia cookbook called for canned corn or canned peas (drained), but I fancied it up a tad and went with frozen corn. Personally, I like the texture of frozen vegetable better than canned, but both work!
SOS with Cream of Mushroom
Hamburger Gravy with mushroom soup is far from a new recipe; it actually more of an old fashioned recipe. Your family may have known it by its other name which is SOS. SOS stands for Shit on a Shingle (sorry, but it’s a fact).
It’s called SOS because it kinda resembles what the names states; however, don’t let this deter you. It’s actually quite tasty, and my kids really really like it.
