As the weather turns cooler, we need recipes that are filling. Here are 7 hearty recipes from our favorite blogs that are filling and family-pleasing.

Maybe it is the time of the year, but the other day, Barbara and I got to thinking about our “thankful” lists. One of the things that both Barbara and I put on our lists were the women in our lives who we can turn to with questions about recipes, food, parenting, and just life in general.

So we are sharing links to a handful of blogs of women who all have one thing in common – they know about food and how it’s raised. These women are smart, funny and willing to answer our questions – from the simple – what roast should we use in our beef and noodles – to the difficult – why do you use antibiotics on your farm – and everything in between.

Barbara and I both know about farming as we were raised on a farm. Barbara and her family now live on our family farm and raise corn and soybeans. I have a degree in agriculture and work in the industry. However, there are A LOT of types of farming and we can’t possibly know about everything. That’s why we are thankful to know these women!

The list below includes livestock farmers and grain farmers (even a pumpkin grower), as well as a veterinarian and dietitian. But the one thing these women all have in common is an openness and willingness to have conversations about food and how it is raised. And for this we are tremendously thankful!
