For all you moms out there who have kids who pretty much only eat ground beef, this recipe is especially for you. All my kids gobbled it up.
They love this Beefy Onion Pie because it has a yummy crescent roll crust, ground beef filling and cheesy topping.
I love it because it only takes me ten minutes to prep it. All I do is brown up some ground beef, pour in some soup, and then make a simple crust out of refrigerated crescent dough.
Twenty minutes in the oven, and ground beef crescent pie is served.
French Onion Hamburger Pie
I always have canned condensed French Onion Soup in my pantry. It’s a staple ingredient along with cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, evaporated milk and elbow macaroni which I use all the time for quick meal prep.
French Onion Soup is found in the same aisle as the cream soups and tomato soup products at the grocery store. If you’ve never tried it before, I highly recommend grabbing a couple cans.
It has a punch of flavor in a small little can that is perfect for casseroles and main dishes.

How to Make Beefy Onion Pie with Ground Beef and Crescent Rolls

- Preheat oven. Grease a standard 9 inch pie plate.
- Brown ground beef; drain excess grease if needed.
- In a small bowl, mix flour and water.
- Add flour mixture and condensed French Onion Soup to ground beef.
- Simmer until thickened.
- Make a pie crust out of crescent roll dough by placing points to the center of a pie pan and pinching the edges together.
- Pour ground beef mixture into crescent roll crust.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Let the crescent roll meat pie sit at room temperature for 5 – 10 minutes before cutting.

Here are two easy options when brainstorming dinner recipes using hamburger and crescent rolls.
- Using a pie pan, make a crust out of the crescent rolls by separating crescent dough into eight triangles and pressing them into the greased pie plate with the points to the center forming a pie crust. Once you’ve made a crescent roll pie crust, make your own beefy pie by browning up the ground beef and seasoning it up with practically anything you have on hand including taco seasonings, onion soup, cream soup, tomato soup or canned tomatoes, etc. Top with shredded cheese, and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
- Brown up the ground beef with any seasoning blend (taco seasoning, steak seasoning, Italian herbs, anything bagel, salt and black pepper). Fill each individual crescent roll with seasoning hamburger and your favorite shredded cheese. Roll up the crescent roll and bake according to package instructions for easy stuffed crescent bites.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 Tablespoons flour
- 10.5 ounces condensed French Onion Soup
- 8 ounces refrigerated crescent dough
- 1 - 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a standard 9 inch pie plate.
- Brown ground beef; drain grease if necessary.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour and water.
- Add flour mixture and condensed French Onion Soup to ground beef; simmer for a few minutes until thickened.
- Make a crust out of crescent dough by separating the triangles and pressing into the pie plate with the points to the center. Press onto the bottom and up the sides.
- Pour the beef mixture into the crescent crust. Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until lightly golden brown on the crust.
- Let stand for 5 - 10 minutes before cutting to serve.
