Crockpot Turkey Breast with Cranberry Sauce Recipe

Our Mom knows how to slow cook a boneless turkey breast. She’s been making this simple version for years. After mastering her basic recipe, I decided it was time to change it up. When I found this slow cooker turkey breast with onion soup recipe in my Fix It and Forget It Cookbook, I knew it was a good place to start.

The first thing that drew me in was the cranberry sauce. This slow cooker turkey breast is basically Thanksgiving in one pot. Serve it with some Dutch Green Beans and Creamed Corn, and I’m all set. Since I don’t have to worry about the turkey, I have more time for desserts! Check out our Favorite Thanksgiving Dessert Recipes!

The second thing that struck me is how few ingredients this recipe has and no crazy ingredients are needed.

How many pounds is the average turkey breast?

Turkey breasts typically weigh anywhere from 3 to 8 pounds.  Pay attention to the size of the turkey breast you choose since weight will drastically change the desired cook time.  Over-cooking will result in a dry turkey breast. You also want to be sure to grab a boneless turkey breast for this recipe!

What should the internal temperature of a turkey breast be?

The FDA recommends cooking a turkey breast to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. To properly test the temperature of a turkey breast, insert a food thermometer into the thickest part of the breast.  The easiest way to do this is to use a digital thermometer.

Should I remove skin from Turkey?

If your boneless turkey breast comes with skin-on, leave it on during the cooking process. I recommend putting the turkey breast in the slow cooker skin-side up.  This will help keep your turkey moist during cooking. Before serving, either remove the skin and discard, or broil the turkey breast in the oven, skin-side up to crisp up the skin.
