Grilled Chicken Bacon Sandwich FAQs
- Follow our Easiest Grilled Chicken Ever recipe for the perfect grilled chicken.
- If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, make your own using milk and vinegar (or lemon juice or lime juice).
- Allow time for the chicken to marinate in the buttermilk – at least 1 hour.
- Don’t marinate the chicken longer than 2 or 3 hours or the texture goes from tender to stringy.
- Be sure to use a meat thermometer to check if your chicken is done. Internal temperature should be 165 degrees F.
- When grilling bacon, be sure to watch the flames. We use a pellet grill (no propane or charcoal) so we don’t have to worry about flames. It’s much harder to burn our bacon!
- Depending on the thickness or your bacon, cooking time may vary. Keep an eye on it!
- You could also use a flat top grill, like a Blackstone to cook the bacon and chicken.
Is it necessary to marinate chicken before grilling?
No, marinating meat is not necessary; however, it does make for a juicier and more flavorful protein. With even as little as 30 minutes, you can take ordinary meat and transform it to tasty.
Do you wipe off marinade before grilling chicken?
Yes, wiping off the excess marinade before grilling is a recommended step. This will help get more flavor and color on the outside of your chicken during grilling.
Variations on a Bacon Chicken Ranch Sandwich
- Change up the marinade by adding a teaspoon of mustard, such as yellow or Dijon. Or give it a kick with a spicy brown mustard.
- Add fresh or dried herbs to the buttermilk, like oregano, rosemary or thyme.
- Love pickles? Try this pickle brined grilled chicken.
- Use different types of bacon to change up the flavor. Black pepper bacon will give the sandwich a bit of a kick.
