Skinny Air Fryer Chickpea Recipe:

Looking for a new healthy snack? Chickpeas are a great source of fiber and protein and contain a high amount of healthy vitamins and minerals.  They are easily added to soups and salads, like our Mango Kale Salad.

Did you know they can be roasted to transform into a crunchy snack?  If potato chips are your downfall, try replacing them with these easy roasted chickpeas.  Traditionally, they are roasted in the oven, but you can save yourself some time by using an Air Fryer.

In just a matter of minutes, you’ll have a crunchy, crispy, healthy snack.

I prefer to keep it simple with olive oil and sea salt, but the sky is the limit.  Sprinkle with your favorite blends of herbs or spices to change it up.  Sprinkle the seasoning on before air-frying, and then you may want to give them another coating after frying, if needed.

How to Make Air Fryer Roasted Chickpeas:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Drain chickpeas; dry with a paper towel.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and salt (sea salt or Pink Himalayan).
  4. Add to the air fryer insert; cook for approximately 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and crunchy, shaking 2-3 times during the process.

Notes About Crispy Roasted Chickpeas (air fryer recipe):

  • I prefer to use canned chickpeas.  Drain well, and rinse with water if desired.
  • Thinking about purchasing an air fryer? My air fryer is part of a Ninja Foodie Pro. It has multi-functions, and I use it all the time.
  • The sky is the limit for the different seasonings that can used for this basic air fryer chickpea recipe.  Think sweet or savory.  I prefer them plain and salted.
  • Use sea salt or Pink Himalayan Salt.  Salt before air frying, and then while still hot, be sure to taste to see if you need to add some more.
  • If you make the mistake of taking them out too soon and they aren’t crunchy enough, go ahead and add them back to the air fryer and roast a couple more minutes.  It won’t mess them up.  Believe me, I’ve done this same thing.
  • Store these in an air-tight container on the counter. If they lose their crunch, toss them back in the air fryer to crisp back up.
  • For a more intense roasted flavor, leave the chickpeas in the air fryer until they get a dark brown, almost black color.
  • Why are these called Skinny Air Fryer Chickpeas?  That’s because chickpeas are a healthy protein source to help keep you full longer.  Olive oil also has great health benefits including antioxidants that protect your heart.  Try replacing a sugar-filled treat with a handful of these crispy air fried chickpeas for a skinny approach.
