- 1 Refrigerated Pizza Dough
- 14 ounces Pizza Sauce
- 1/2 cup Sausage (or Your Favorite Toppings) sausage, pepperoni, ham, black olives, etc.
- 1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese or Provolone Cheese or cheese slices (2)
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil for frying
Remove pizza dough from the refrigerator to a large bowl that's been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Let the pizza dough rest at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes to make it more elastic.
Cut pizza dough into 4 equal-sized pieces.
Stretch each piece of pizza dough to form a circle or triangle approximately 5 to 6 inches long.
Spread 1-2 Tablespoons of pizza sauce on the center of each pizza dough. Do not over-sauce.
Top with your favorite meats and pizza toppings.
Sprinkle with shredded cheese or a half of a cheese slice.
Turn the dough over in half and press the edges to seal.
Preheat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Once hot, gently slide the pizza turnovers into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown; flip and fry the other side until browned as well.
Remove to a paper-towel lined plate. Let cool for up to 5 minutes before cutting in half to eat.

- Pizza dough that is cold is hard to stretch. Let the dough come to room temperature in a greased bowl. This will prevent the dough from tearing and having holes.
- It's ok if these are oddly shaped. My turnovers are more like long turnovers. They all taste the same.
- Use pre-bought pizza sauce or make your own by mixing 8 ounces of tomato sauce with 1 to 2 teaspoons of sugar, and a half teaspoon of dried oregano and dried basil.
