Notes

  • Our version is a tater tot casserole without soup.
  • The classic Frisco sauce (from San Francisco) consists of a cheesy flavor from both American and Swiss cheeses.  If your kids are adverse to the strong Swiss flavor, use cheddar or Colby instead.
  • This Frisco melt tater tot casserole has a sweet sauce made with Thousand Island and French dressings and ketchup.  If you have Thousand Island or French, but not both, you could absolutely omit the one you don't have.  Just add more of the other.
  • If you like an even more cheesy tater tot casserole, then sprinkle with additional shredded cheese 5 minutes before it's done.
  • Keep the tater tots frozen until time to put on casserole.
  • You could easily use more or less tots than this casserole without soup calls for.
