Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 to 5 eggs see notes
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Nuts or chocolate candy optional

Instructions

  • Melt margarine; add sugar and eggs and mix together.
  • Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt; mix into egg mixture.
  • Optional step: sprinkle with chopped nuts or leftover candy.
  • Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

If you like a cake-like brownie, use 4 eggs. The batter will be a bit dry but that's OK. If you like a fudgy brownie, use 5 eggs.
