Easy Chipped Beef Gravy

- 4 Tablespoons butter
- 1 2.5 oz jar or package dried beef (see notes about using refrigerated dried beef)
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 cups milk whole or 2% works best
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add dried beef that has been cut into chunks or broken into little pieces.
Brown chipped beef in butter for 2 to 3 minutes; add flour.
Stir flour and beef together; the beef should clump up. Cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
Gradually add milk (about a cup at a time) while slowly stirring.
Bring milk mixture to a slow boil until a thick gravy forms, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce and stir to incorporate before serving.
Serve it over lightly toasted bread that has been lightly buttered.

- What can you substitite for dried beef in a jar? Use the refrigerated dried beef packets (Buddig dried beef). Here's a helpful hint. It's much more economical. For this recipe, use two of the beef packets from the refrigerator section.
