Ingredients

  • 12 ounces uncooked sausage patties
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 10.75 ounces cream of mushroom soup
  • Optional: cooked rice, mashed potatoes or biscuits

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8 x 8 inch or 2 quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Heat oil in large skillet; brown sausage patties on both sides, pressing down a bit as you fry.

Notes

  • This casserole with sausage patties can be served for dinner over cooked rice or mashed potatoes. Or, serve it as breakfast served over biscuits. 
  • Shredded cheese would be a tasty addition. Sprinkle the top before baking. 
  • If you want to make it like Granny using ground pork sausage, follow this recipe:
    • Combine 1 lb. pork sausage, 1 T. Worcestershire sauce, 2 T. ketchup, 1 egg, 1 T. chopped onion, and 1/2 cup cracker crumbs.
    • Roll into balls and roll into 1 T. flour. 
    • Fry and press flat in vegetable oil.
    • Cover with cream of mushroom soup, and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 45 minutes.
