Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 packages dry Kool-Aid mix (unsweetened)
  • 2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  • Add flour, salt, vegetable oil and Kool-Aid mix to a large bowl. Slowly add boiling water to the mixture (you may not need the whole amount.)

Notes

  • This koolaid playdough recipe uses 2 packets of dry koolaid mix. Be sure to get the unsweetened kind.
  • Use whatever flavor kool-aid you prefer or pick your flavor based on the color playdough you desire.
  • I just so happened to have canning salt on hand, but regular iodized salt works too. 
  • I recommend adding the boiling water slowly to the dry ingredients.  If it gets to the desired texture, you do not have to use the entire 2 cups of water.
  • If your edible playdough gets too sticky, add more flour.
  • This is a great activity for your kiddos start to finish. Be careful with the boiling water (parents should pour this).  Have your child start by stirring the homemade playdough with a spatula of whisk, and then once the dough cools down, pour it onto a floured surface (similar to making bread), and let your kid knead away. It's great practice with a rolling pin too.
