Ingredients

Layer One

2 eggs
1 box white cake mix
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup chocolate chips

Layer Two

8 ounces softened cream cheese
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar Confectioner’s sugar

Instructions

Mix eggs, cake mix and melted butter until smooth.
Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
Spread into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
For the second layer, cream softened cream cheese, eggs and powdered sugar until smooth.
Pour over the first layer in the baking dish.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown and the center is just set.

Notes

Yellow cake mix or white cake mix can be used for this gooey butter dessert.
Substitute mini chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips for the semi-sweet , if desired.
Mix in the the chocolate chips by hand.
Be sure the cream cheese is softened to prevent a lumpy top layer.
Gooey butter cake recipe is done cooking when the top is golden brown and the center is set but slightly jiggly.
