What to Expect

This week at These Old Cookbooks, we are serving up delicious meals that Grandma would approve.   All of these recipes have simple ingredients (see our grocery list at the bottom of this post) and are easy to follow.

We’ve got some time-saving strategies this week!  On Monday night, we are making Classic Sloppy Joes. This recipe was featured on Working Women’s 50 Classic Vintage Recipes!  We suggest making extra so that you can use the leftovers on Friday nights in Sloppy Joe Cups.  These are a hit with the kids (and husbands).

We are utilizing the Crock Pot several times this week which is very helpful after a long night at work.  You’ll really appreciate our Crock Pot Enchiladas, Crock Pot Cheesy Potatoes and Crock Pot Brisket.

A great way to save money is by using vegetables that are in season. We are featuring asparagus in a yummy sheet pan meal this week. Asparagus is super cheap right now during the spring when it is growing everywhere! Try buying some at the farmer’s market.

See the grocery list below (we didn’t include the ingredients from recipes NOT on our site). You most likely won’t need everything on that list. We are betting that you have many of these ingredients already in your refrigerator or pantry!

For best results, mix together the sauce and marinate the baked cranberry pork chops overnight.
