Sausage Egg and Cheese Casserole with Bread

Many moons ago, Barbara went to Purdue University where she lived in Cooperative housing with a large group of girls. The house, called Glenwood Cooperative, was run by these girls who shared cooking and cleaning duties.

Barbara has a ton of great recipes from her Glenwood days, including this Egg and Sausage Breakfast Casserole. She actually made it on a whim because she had a bunch of white sandwich buns left over from a birthday party. I think our Grandma Kuhn would be proud of her for not wasting them.

  3. Great recipe! A new family favorite—our leftover bread was sourdough, and we added a can of green chilies—DELICIOUS!! Thank you!!

  4. Love that this came out just as good as the recipes requiring ingredients to sit overnight before baking. I combined the best of the 2 approaches. Mods: 1/2 c. cream for part of the milk; the green chiles & sourdough bread as someone else recommended; green onion, black pepper, mixed cheeses (sharp cheddar & pepper jack) & sprinkling of paprika on top for color. Perfection!
